Tybee Island Lighthouse

This panorama was taken during a summer morning at Tybee Island. From the beach, you can appreciate Tybee's lighthouse that was rebuilt after the Civil War. Considered one America’s most intact lighthouses, this site still has all the its historic support buildings. The original was built in 1732 by order of General James Oglethorp, however given the proximity to the shore its location had to be changed twice. Then, after the damage sustained during the war, it was necessary for further reparations. This is the current lighthouse you see today.

Esta fotografía panorámica fue tomada durante una mañana de verano en Tybee Island. Desde la playa, se puede apreciar el faro reconstruido después de la Guerra Civil y considerado uno de los más intactos en los Estados Unidos. En el área se conservan la mayoria de las edificaciones que eran utilizadas la administracion del lugar. El original fue construido en 1732 por orden del General James Oglethorp, sin embargo como consecuencia de su cercania a la playa tuvo que cambiarse su localizacion dos veces. Luego, debido a los daños causados durante la guerra, tuvo que ser reconstruído y ése es el que usted puede apreciar actualmente.
